3-D Imaging
Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) Technology is the newest innovation in 3D imaging. It uses similar technology as traditional CT scanners but is able to do so with far less radiation, producing a high-definition three-dimensional image within seconds.
The health and safety of our patients is our highest priority, which is why we use CBCT technology in our office. The use of 3-D imaging can aid in proper diagnosis and the development of the best treatment plan for you. It allows your Endodontist to better treat the complexities within the tooth root and facilitates efficient treatment for an easier appointment. CBCT imaging provides a more accurate understanding of your situation than traditional 2-D images which increases success while decreasing the risks associated with treatment.
What are the advantages of 3D imaging prior to a root canal?
- Earlier detection of problems, such as a crack in the root
- Better able to address complexities within the root, such as locating hidden canals
- Allow for safer treatment, through being able to more accurately view important anatomy such as a nerve bundle near a root
- Allows for faster treatment. Analyzing the 3-D images before treatment helps us know what will be needed in treating the tooth and provides accurate measurements of your root’s dimensions
