Cracked Teeth
How do I know if I have a cracked tooth?
Cracked teeth can cause a variety of symptoms, including pain when biting, sensitivity to hot or cold, or a pain felt when releasing from biting. Some cracked teeth may not have any symptoms for a certain period of time, requiring an evaluation and imaging for proper diagnosis and treatment.
Do all cracked teeth need a root canal?
Depending on the location and size of the crack, your tooth might not need a root canal. Some cracked teeth are able to remain healthy and functional with just a crown. However, many cracks lead to inflammation or infection of the dental pulp and need a root canal prior to having a crown placed.
Do all cracked teeth need to be removed?
No! With proper diagnosis and treatment, many cracked teeth can feel and function just like a normal tooth.
